Unless you have someone else you can trust to leave your dogs with, I suggest you slowly introduce them to a kennel. It can be most stress full for an animal to be "abandoned", especially at an older age. Find a reputable kennel, through your vet and see if the have an introductory class so your dogs become familiar and comfortable in their new temporary surroundings. The last thing you want is a dog who becomes lethargic and depressed and will not eat and for yourself a ruined vacation. Good Luck.

With older dogs who have had no kennel experience, it's always best to first try and find someone to house sit. It's less stressful on the animals.
However - this does not need to be your only option. As someone stated before, it is best to slowly introduce your dog to the kennel. Do they offer daycare? Try daycare one or two days a week for the two or three weeks leading up to your trip - this way your dogs can become comfortable with the housing situation and with the staff.
When looking for a kennel, I would try and find a veterinary office that boards. They are especially careful with older dogs and their medications. They know how to walk arthritic dogs and how to house them. Plus, if the dogs have any sudden old-age issues, the vet is right there to assist.
One thing that is often overlooked when looking for kennels are the requirements of the kennel. Make sure they REQUIRE all of the necessary vaccines - bordatella (kennel cough), rabies, parvo, etc. It is also important that the kennel requires flea and tick prevention as well as a fecal sample. Many kennels don't do this, but it is important because it prevents your animals from picking anything up while they are at the kennel.
And to be honest - most dogs don't react poorly to the kennel. Older dogs, especially, sleep all day. It's a nice relaxing trip and they are well cared for.

They will be ok. My uncle's dog is REALLY attached to his owner (if anyone else walks him he cries and looks for him) and he cries when my uncle goes out (even when other people are still in). He is 13 or 14 years old too, which is pretty old for a red setter. And the poor dog is alone too, they only have one. He gets upset in the kennels but he copes.
Just be sure to tell the kennel what they're like so they know to take extra special care with them.

Kennels may be overwhelming. Try getting someone close to stay at your house to watch your dogs. My dog was old and after the kennel he was sleeping the entire way back home.

Find a good kennel. Its always hard for them to go back to the kennel when they are older.

You would be better off paying someone to stay in your house and take care of the dogs there. Kennels ar enot a lot of fun for dogs.

I would look for a kennel that would put them on the same cage if possible, and try leaving something yours with them, like a piece of clothing with your smell, and their favorite pillow or toy, it would help them to feel a little more at home.
Good luck.

I additionally ask your self how your canines have been given get entry to to a different canines. it is going to be the accountability of the kennel to maintain them separated. additionally, your canines ought to have been saved in sparkling circumstances, regardless. If no person replaced into there to witness the incident, how did they are conscious of it replaced into your canines, until they have been kenneled mutually? Why did no longer your canines have its very own run? in spite of regardless of if somebody witnessed it or no longer, they should have contacted you on the instant, as quickly because it replaced into found. And regrettably, because of the fact that your canines is a bully breed, it relatively is probably that they are going to attempt to place the blame on your canines, regardless of if this is at fault or no longer. It appears like that may no longer an extremely sturdy facility, in accordance with what you assert.
