do you think they are on a suicide mission? Seriously it seems like they just go right in front of a car and stand...sometimes even groups of them!! But when its hunting season they know how to make themselves scarce.

Just today I was wondering the same thing. I was on my way home from the store and there was a dead deer laying on the side of the road, and not even 1 min, before I had nearly hit a dead possum. I guess some animals can't get the message to there brain fast enough, the poor dears.

Mostly deer get hit during harvest time, the equipment scaring them out of their usual bedding areas also the continuing land deveelopment plays a role during hunting season just prior to the rut you will encounter more because the bucks are in the "searching" stage of the rut

Confusion... groups may graze together and wander across roads. When the car approaches they stop to figure out what they hear, then usually splat is what happens. The town where I grew up, I remember seeing a deer running down mainstreet for like 6 blocks!!

Yeah...deer are curious animals. I've seen them stop running from someone and turn around and look at the person that startled them when that person yelled or whistled at them.
They hear a noise, stop and turn around to see what it is, see a bright light that blinds them, and they just kinda freeze.
When you live out in the boondocks you learn to watch for them. Out there, they get use to cars and don't do that...they run. But sometimes they are like squirrels..can't figure out which way to go!

Sadly we are taking away the natural places they used to live in.... I heard a deer will live its life out staying within 1 mile radice of where it was born.... but we crowd them. Even I have seen them close to town because where they are now building new homes used to be all trees when will we ever learn?

Much of it is because our high powered cars are going too fast ,also people are not using the hunting view for seeing animals on road.

stable question-my husband hit one together with his patrol vehicle yet did no longer see one throughout searching-to that end we nonetheless had venision. We had an 8 element greenback get hit in this community final nighttime-they're construction extra properties and crowding them out and that they've nowhere to flow-they only walk everywhere.

Deer are blinded at night by our headlights. That's why you will even see a bunch of them froze in the road.

Because we put roads between their bedroom and their kitchen. They get confused in the lights too because they are using their night vision. It is like if I put you in front of 4 lanes of traffic and tell you that your mate or meal is on the other side. Sometimes you'll make it and sometimes you won't.

Any answer that mention dumb are . . .well. . .dumb!
