At first it was small and had a little blood comming out, so we firgured he was just bit by a spider while he was sleeping. But now only 2 days later it has gotten so swollen it's about the size of an M&M. The spot where the bit of blood was comming from is now scabbed over, and about and inch around it is so sensitive, he was in agony when i tried to touch it, and i barely came close to it. It's also very red.
at first i thought squeezing the pus out would be the best idea but he looks like he's going to cry from it being so sensitive.

He is going to the doctor but before he does I'd like to look up some possabilities of what it could be and what I could do in the meantime to relieve his pain. It looked like a spider bite at first but now, 2 days later, it looks like a fresh bee sting only scabbed over. he wasn't been outside the day it happened and it's too cold for bees where I am.
Any ideas on what it could be and some things I could do to help him until he goes to the doctor?

As you said, it's probably an just an insect bite which unfortunately got infected and is developing into an abscess. You need to see a doctor for some antibiotics. Don't attempt to squeeze the lump if it is still red. You will only cause him more pain. Pus will appear yellowish. Drainage of the abscess is best carried out by qualified medical personnel.

It could be an ingrown hair or a blocked hair follicle... or a bite or a sting of some sort. If he's in agony and it's changing in size, it's best that he goes to an urgent care center. If it IS a bite of some sort and there's poison/venom taking effect, then he needs to have that treated ASAP!
