I saw a book advertised recently which contained recipes for dog biscuits, it brought up all sorts of questions, what do they put in dog biscuits, are they easy to make at home, would they taste better to the dog than commercially bought ones?

I know a few recipes you might like to try. Safe for human consumption, but I've never been brave enough to try!!

Liver Cake

Approx. 375g of Liver
2 eggs
2-4 cloves garlic (optional)
self-raising flour

Whiz liver in a food processor, then add in the eggs and garlic and whizz again...

Add in 1 cup of Self-Raising flour.

Spread out thinly on a large baking sheet.

Bake for 20-30 minutes in a moderate oven.

Cool and chop. Freezes well.

Doggy Layer Cake.

3 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup marg
6 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup corn oil
2 jars of chicken baby food
2 cups shredded carrot
plain or vanilla yogurt
2-3strips of bacon, fried crisp then crumbled.

Generously grease and flour 2 8" cake tins and set aside.

combine flour, baking powder and set aside.

In a mixing bowl beat the softened marg until it's smooth. Add the eggs and the corn oil and mix well. Add the chicken baby food and the carrots and mix until smooth. Add the flour/baking powder and mix.

Pour into the 2 cake tins and bake at 325 for about an hour.

Let it cool before removing from tins and cool totally on racks.

Place one layer on a serving plate and spread some of the yogurt..sandwich with the top layer, then spread the yogurt over the top and the sides. Sprinkle the bacon bits over the top.

use pupperoni sticks or crab sticks instead of candles..

well when you mean fix your dog, you mean train I think? If you need a really high value treat reward, this idea is so great: get a squeeze tube (like ones that have cake icing in them- but an empty one:) ) Fill the squeeze tube with mush: melted cheese, ground raw meat, raw eggs, canned or raw ground tripe. When you want to reward the dog, let him lick a little bit from the squeeze tube. I swear it's the best treat dispenser for high value reward I ever used! ok but if you want cookie recipes, you can try this: 1 cup flour 1/4- 1/2 cup milk pinch of baking soda few tablespoons of natural peanut butter Add enough water so it is easy to knead dough Put spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet, cook at 375F for about 15 mins.
