This depends on your requirements and what size of screen you want, what size of screen your room can accommodate without being totally in your face. For me would be LCD and either Sony or Samsung, both make good quality, reliable LCD TV's which are HD ready, beware though, the all black and glossy Samsungs gather dust like a magnet

some professional's for lcd. demonstrate screen won't get a glare from mild. Very mild weight, would not generate warmth. Cons - image isn't as sharp, could have a lifeless pixel which will effect in a black dot on the demonstrate screen. the two plasma or lcd will merely final approximately 10 - 15 years. make certain you get 720p. a number of them are EDTV which isn't severe def and regularly greater low fee. for approximately $a million,000 you're probable watching a 32" demonstrate screen and typcially plasma and lcd are with regard to an identical fee.

Make sure you cant see your tv from outside - the new crime is to just kick your front door down and walk right in and take the tv!!!
I happened near to my mum the other week, and she lives in a very nice area!!!
Since the LCD and Plasmas are so light in weight, they're really easy to steal!!
I'm on the look out for a tv that takes at least 2 people to carry!! lol
If I was you though, go for Sony!!

if you want a new tv go for plasma or lcd (i prefer plasma) u want a resolution of 1080 by 1080 hitachi make these screens and there amazing, phillips also use these screens aswell and i'm sure lg do aswell.
stay away from sony they always come out with great ideas but there stuff don't last that's what i've found
the 1080 by 1080 will give you the best picture for hi def, and xbox360 or ps3 if that's what your gonna use it for

Try LG (steer clear of Sony!)
You definitely need HD Ready & I'd also go for an LCD

I recently bought a 42 inch television from ebay for 630 pounds. it is brilliant. To buy it new it costs 2899.00 and the speakers 389.00. It is an ex display model but it is amazing and not a mark on it. The model is fujitsu p42vha31. If using ebay just ensure the seller has an excellent feedback record and pay with paypal as it is safest. But i do recomend it as i got a bargain. you will have money left over for something else.

For £1400?
Get a cheap TV and take a nice cruise holiday - best use of money.
Nobody can nick the holiday and they won't bother with a cheap TV.
