This scripture is for believers and believers ONLY. Many non-believers and especially make believers like to claim this scripture but at that great and notable day of the Lord when they stand before the judgement seat of Christ, would it have been theirs to claim? NO. It is only for the Bride of Christ and for the real Orthodox Jews. For all things eventually did work together for good for them because they were the called out ones, for the Bride sits with Christ on His Throne and the 144,000 are the keepers of the bridechamber. Read the story of Joseph. Perfect type of Jesus Christ as He was hated of HIs brothers, sold, His brethren betrayed Him, His Gentile Bride, Jacob crossed his hands in blessing the younger child (gentile) showing the blessing comes through the cross...so much more. Amazing.

God works in "everything" - not just isolated incidents for our good. This does not mean that all that happens to us is good. Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able to trurn every circumstance around for our long-range good. Not that God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill his purpose. Note also the this promise is not for everybody. It can can be claimed only by those who love God and are called by him, that is, those whom the Holy Spirit convinces to receive Christ. Such people have a new perspective, a new mind-set. They trust in God, not in worldly treasures: their security is in heaven., not on earth. Their faith in God does not waver in pain and persecution because they know God is with them.
