All the places mentioned above are the best if you are aiming for a cosmopolitan, city life with all the facilities. But,if you want to see the raw part of human life go to kerala and visit the out of this world places. Most of the places will freak you out.And the experiences.I tell you,it is simply superb, with its sudden strikes, dirty streets,no holds barred train journeys, and the urchins. The last mentioned is a constant source of merriment, and learning of human nature.Go to Kerala and stay there for a week. You will come away as a different changed person with a tottally new outlook on life.

You might want to check out Tokyo, which is a fantastic place to visit, although it's a little expensive if you're on a budget. Alternatively you could consider Bangkok, which is a watered down version of Tokyo but just as bustling and culturally rich. If you prefer big city life you could also look at Hong Kong or Singapore, 2 very similar modern asian cities.

Singapore and Malaysia. Both would provide a wide variety of asian cultures. Lots of places of interest. Can check out the repective websites. Also nearby each other so that both can be visited in the same holiday and lots of shopping at both places.

York, you could somewhat spend 3 or 4 days only interior the city centre with each and all of the museums etc. Beechwood close hotel is advantageous and not too costly, approximately 5 min taxi trip from city centre. From York you could somewhat flow to the coast for an afternoon like scarborough or Whitby and flow to marketplace city like skipton, malton, pickering. For out of the country you could no longer flow incorrect with the canary islands, for a quiet place try Jandia in Fuertaventura or somewhat extra energetic yet no longer a party city try Costa Teguise or Playa Blanca in Lanzarote.

Philippines.
Have a look at this website, even if you can't afford it, it gives a good idea of how a great island resort looks, I've stayed here so many times I can't remember.
