Not trying to sound insensitive, but shouldn't people have the sense to know that if you have serious problems like a swollen vagina to the professionals instead of sharing it with the rest of the world.

Okay I'll bite! Even if that were true, and I know it's not renaezz, don't you think a little odd that the time it takes to write the question and answer could be better served by calling STD clinic that have toll free #'s.

Many people wish to avoid the truth and a physician is the ultimate truth in health matters. So people crave simple answers to complex questions and expect that drinking green tea is a cure-all. A few however can not afford the expense of good medical care are are seeking palliative means to get by. The average answerer here has scant knowledge about medicine and use websites as an attempt to look erudite but their stupidity still comes through. In asking questions, a full half of the questions are ridiculous and a brazen attempts to flaunt their new found sexuality or to brag about it....but our pseudo-erudite friends lead them on by answering. As a physician, I don't mind answering sincere questions, giving advice or even guiding people to some effective home remedies (yes, there are many). But it is puerile for people to ask about masturbation, etc and the old one about penile enlargement...Give me a Break. They will persist.

I have to agree with rinazz: it's not easy or cheap sometimes the availability too. We lived in an inaccessible area with a very small population. A doctor call was sometimes a two day affair and then it was hard. If one could use an idea from this forum and it's something simple, it's a lot easier.
Some people are very insensitive to others, their problems. We can ignore some, looking for the enjoyment of pain to others. Then there are those that really don't know what they're speaking about, so we have to be careful.

I agree wholeheartedly with your statement and it is a shame that more people don't realize it. Sadly, I would be willing to take a guess that most people who have something against the police are the ones who have gotten in trouble by them. Like you, I know many people whose parents were actually mad at the police for doing their job in a professional manner than at their kid who stole a car or got caught with drugs. I remember reading a story a while back of some parents who tried to sue the police department for using the PIT maneuver on their little "angel" after he stole a car while intoxicated. They said it put him in unnecessary danger. There was another story about 3 years ago that took place in San Marcos, Texas. A teenage boy was having a domestic quarrel at home with his mother and younger sister. During the arguing, the police were called to the scene. Once they arrived, they found the family in the front yard with the boy holding his mother hostage and attempting to stab her in the neck with a knife. The whole time they were telling him to put it down until finally he stabbed her in the neck (nonfatally), and was shot dead by the police when they had a clear shot. As you might have guessed, the family, including the mother, sued the police department for the incident. About 7 or 8 years ago, there was another incident in Texas (sorry about all the Texas stories, but it is home) where a man was attempting to elude police after a traffic stop. After the officer pulled him over and walked up to the vehicle, the man stepped on the gas and tried to take off. The officer attempted to grab the man and the car as the suspect did so and ended up getting caught on the door and the car, being dragged along the ground at an increasingly high rate of speed. The officer ordered the man several times to stop as he was being dragged, finally pulling out his service weapon. He again ordered the man to stop, and with the suspect failing to comply, fired several shots through the window and door, killing the driver. After the incident, the community was divided on the issue, with many wanting the officer fired and imprisoned for unjustified use of deadly force. A lot of people say that the cops are jerks because they are stern and harsh with them. What they fail to realize is that a cop has to maintain control of the situation and that often times means being stern with people. When he is trying to tell the person something and they keep trying to interupt to "get their side of the story in" then they often have to tell him very assertively to be quiet. Any good cop knows that when you lose control of a situation, you may very well lose your life.

I think people share their problems here because they are afraid. They want someone to tell them that it isn't a big deal so they can stop worrying. They want the reassurance that what is happening is normal, or that other people have experienced the same thing. They don't want to feel alone. Also, sometimes when you are really worried and scared its hard to know what to do. Even when its obvious to others. I just hope that after advised, these people do go seek professional opinions instead of just fretting at home

It is because the person in question, believed that one of the yahoo contributors must have gotten similar problem and he must have solved it in a way, either through drugs or any other means. You must know that some people are shy to come face-to-face with a doctor; telling him or her that she has a swollen Virgina.... hence she need indirect solution. problem shared is problem solved.

Maybe they would like to have an idea of what to expect before they see a doctor.
For some people seeing a doctor is not so easy or cheap, etc, they may need a push to go see a specialist and they seek it from other people around here.
