Yes -all dogs have anal glands and most dogs don't have any problem. The glands are two small sacs just inside the anus and they are emptied naturally when the dog defecates.

Occasionally the glands don't empty and they fill up and become impacted. The dog feels very uncomfortable and will often scoot its bottom along the floor - people usually think this is a sign of worm infestation but it isn't - it's the anal glands.

Some dogs nibble at the root of their tail because the pain from the glands travels to that spot. The glands can also become infected and if the condition is neglected can lead to other problems.

Anal gland problems can be a one off where the dog has no further trouble after the glands have been emptied but some dogs have a chronic anal gland problem which means their glands have to be emptied regularly.

Routine emptying shouldn't be necessary on a dog who has no symptoms.

yes all dogs have them. Dogs are all basically the same as regards their bodies. All have eyes, teeth, heart, lungs, kidneys, anal glands etc.
If there is a problem you can usually tell by the dog scooting along the floor on his bum, or constant licking of the area or a strong unpleasant smell like anchovies. This may mean that he needs the glands emptied by a vet or professional groomer. Then you have to look at his diet to figure out why his stolls are not hard enough . They are normally emptied as the dog passes a firm stool. For dogs on a poor diet with soft stools, the glands may not empty and can become impacted and infected. HTH

As far as I know yes all dogs have an anal gland. If you see the dog dragging it's bottom on the floor,or ground, pretty good guess it is bothering the pet. Did you watch the episode of (Dirty Jobs) with Mike Rowe, when he went to the dog grooming lady. She showed how to keep this from being a problem for your dog.

Yes all dogs DO have anal glands that need to be emptied every so often. Sometimes they empty out on their own, but sometimes they need a vet to clean them out. (You could even empty them out yourself, but it's not very pleasant.) If your dog is scooting and/or paying a lot of attention to their rear end, chances are your dog needs those glands emptied and fast.

Yes, all dogs have anal glands. If you get your dog groomed regularly, the groomer will (usually) take care of them. You may want to ask your groomer just in case. If you don't get him groomed, you can check by pressing your finger onto either side of his anus. If you feel something hard, take him to the vet. The anal gland is where the dog holds any poisons that have been filtered out of his system, so getting them cleaned out regularly is important.

yes...and if the dog drags his bottom on the ground and looks at his rear end constantly then he may have them impacted...but anal glands should empty naturally and its only wrong foods that will cause them to block..a vet is best to empty them if he has problems dont try yourself unless you know what you are doing as messing about will cause infection and be very painful...

yes they do.generally if there is a problem they will scoot there butt on the grass that is a sign that it itches. check for swelling around the anus,it could also mean they have worms. if you notice major change in the dog by all means take it to the vet or a pets-mart there people are very helpful.
