When I open the computer - on the start line comes PanoStandAlone error 1706. I have used all the various reg & cleaning, defrag, resolutions to get rid of it and as at this morning it has not appeared after I did a restart. It wouldn't let me cancel it, uninstall as the message said it was on a disc. As I've yet to get to uploading programmes from a disc (I'm a beginner) how can that be? This happened once before and I managed to get rid of it but can't remember how. It took all day Saturday to finally get rid of it, if it happens again what is a quick way to get rid of it? It's quite frightening for a beginner when you can't turn off your computer!!! AAHHH!!

Hi there,

-- Click Start > Run > Type MSCONFIG and click OK.
-- Click on Startup tab at the top right corner of "System Configuration Utility" box.
--Click on "Disable All" at the bottom right corner.
-- Put checkmark for the Internet security application items. ( for eg: Ccapp for symantec or items like mcagent for Mcafee, you can find it under the "Command" column. It would read as "C:\Program Files\YOUR_SECURITY_SOFTWARE_FOLDER_NAME..." )
-- Click Apply and then click Close.
-- Restart the system.

Congrats! you have got rid of that error 1706...

>> Apart from this, your system would e working better & faster.

Is it recorded in ADD/Remove programs list? To check it try this:

Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs

Try to remove from it using the appropriate buttons.

Here are some sites listing the same problem and the resolutions.

DO NOT UNPLUG THE COMPUTER TO SHUT IT OFF. That is bad advice. Good luck!

It has to do with your camera setup programs, try this
go to start>run type in msconfig and click ok>click on selective startup>click on the startup tab> look and see if you see panostand alone, if you do uncheck the box infront of it and that will stop it from trying to load. If that is not there check for any camera software and uncheck it. Then click apply, it will say exit or exit without restart, click exit.
If that doesn't fix it just remove all of your camera programs and that should stop it. Also when you reload your camera software make sure you uncheck it to start with windows.

If your computer is not working properly when it is switched on, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
