Lol at some of the answers. Bose?? Lol that company needs to get banned from earth. HK makes good speakers in general. You can never go wrong with them. Altec lansing, lol, not bad but I would never buy them. For the price of expensive computer speakers these days you can buy an ok home audio reciever and descent bookshelf speakers that will blow away the most expensive computer speaker system.

I've familar with harman/kardon and there alright.I'm not familar with altec lansing never heard of them so harman is ok or you could say hell with em and build your own then you can only blame yourself if it don't work out.

Yes. Speakers designed for PC gaming are typically much smaller in comparison with home theater speakers. Not to say that you have to have large home theater speakers to get decent sound, there is just quite a large difference in the quality. PC speakers to usually intended to give the user sound for their interactions, home theater or "surround sound" is designed to encompass the viewer in what is going on on screen. The material doesn't matter, tv, movie, music, or game you get a much fuller sound.

better as in sound? neither are better, you need to goto the store and listen for yourself, I've listened to 1200 dollar speakers and they didnt match up to other speakers that we're half the price
now as in build quility both are excellent
