You are increasing your blood flow while in sauna, so it is possible that you lose a little bit of fat. But the effect is very small, it is mostly water you are sweating out.

Water is all you lose when you perspire. However, sitting in a sauna or steam room can help you relax and it has other health benefits. A Japanese study finds that it helps the heart the same way exercise does.

You need to be sure to drink water after a stay in the sauna because it is important that you not let yourself get dehydrated.

No.
You sweat because your body is trying to cool you down. What you sweat out is water not fats.Forget about sauna or steamroom.Exercise is the key.If you don't like exercising, you can try walking.I love to walk!It does not cost anything and aids in losing weight.I won't say sitting in a sauna or steamroom is a waste of time(it can help you to relax),but if the reason for you sitting in a sauna or steamroom is because you want to lose weight,I don't think it is a good idea.
Exercising is way better than sitting in a sauna or steamroom.Exercising can help you to lose weight, strengthen your bones, help you to relax and make your muscles, heart and lungs stronger.

Many people assume that, during exercise, the amount of sweat is same as the amount of fat that burnt in our body. This is not true! It has nothing relation with fat burning. A science research have shown that sweat only contain of water and mineral, but NOT FAT!.

You loose water. Your body's like 70% water I think. So losing lot of water can mean lot of weight.

I wouldn't say it's a waste of time. But it would be more beneficial to be sweating by running long distances or exercising for long/tough periods of time.
