Why does my computer run very slow when my AVG anti virus is running I have plenty of memory?

see when antivirus run the RAM geeting load
and whats your size of RAM?
if its 128mb it will be slow functioning
but if it will be 256 or 512 it wil work fine
but if then it slow mean there is a attack of virus
make update yr antivirus

Anti-virus or diagnostic checks will slow it down as they are checking all files. I usually set mine to run when I'm not using the comp for something else.
