I want a firefly for my daughter, after the song Fireflies by Faith Hill. I cried every time I heard it while I was pregnant with her and now I sing it to her. I know fireflies in real life are ugly, so I want a cartoon-y looking one, but not too corny. If anybody can draw or has any suggestions on where to look up a good looking firefly please let me know.

I can draw, but unfortunately, I can't draw anything for you and get it on the computer to put on my suggestions. So I will just describe it. I think you should somewhat put some character in the firefly-make it look sort of like your daughter, although you won't get too much detail if you want it to be a small tattoo. I think you should have the firefly floating above a beautiful flower that you like or that represents your daughter. A pinkish glow with a bit of light gray or yellow on the outsides would be nice. Maybe some sparkles around the flower and your daughter. And since you said you cried when you heard the song, you should make the flower have a water drop coming out of it, dripping. I have this amazing idea in my head but it's too awesome to describe with such detail. I hope you can picture my idea.

do research on the artists. go to an actual tattoo "artist" not someone who just does a stencil of a generic picture. you will be glad you did.
my tattoo artist actually did a tattoo on one of my friends that is fire flies flying out of a jar. and one of them is sitting on a porch playing a guitar. a firefly tattoo doesn't have to look like an actual firefly. it can be whatever you want it to be. whatever you do don't get "flash" or generic tattoos off the wall my first three tattoos were flash. i am now in the process of covering them up with "actual art" one of a kind art that can't be reproduced anywhere else by anyone else. also, ask to see a portfolio of tattoos they have done. just because someone tattoos doesn't mean that they are an artist. you will be extremely glad later on if you take the time to do this, i promise.

You should go to the tattoo artist that you want to actually ink the tattoo and have them draw up what you want. That's their job ;)

Go to a good tattoo shop, and explain what you just did on answers, they are good at what they do and will draw it up for you to look at first, you'll know when you see it if that's the one. If not they will work on the drawing.

go to google.com and do a "image search" of fireflies you should be able to come up with something there. Print it off and the tatoo shop can copy it from there. I have searched this for my FaithNFireFlies FanYahoo Group that I have and I was able to find lots of Pics of them. I hope this helps and good luck with your Baby Girl.
