Wow. What a broad question. Many people, including doctors, think that a TSH test will reveal any and all thryoid problems. In reality, there are other thyroid levels that need to be tested too. I've found great information from author and patient advocate Mary Shomon on http://thryoid.about.com and http://www.thyroid-info.com. There's also a new site at http://www.thyroidbreakthrough.com.

You can hyper and hypo thyriodism. I can't tell much about hyperthyroidism however, I have hypothyroidism which is basically a slow thyroid. My symptoms where: I was always cold, gained weight easily, goiter, struggled with infertility, also my hair thinned. It was a simple fix for me a blood test and medicine however I need blood work done every three months. Get tested if you suspect a problem I waited till I was 24 which was a mistake.

If your thyroid isnt working properly it can cause all sorts of issues including being under or over weight. If you are very tired or the opposite always on the run cant lose weight or put it on get checked by the Doctor.

well i hav it and it sucks. it controls the hole body function,and how it balances out. u need it or u feel terriable
