On 15th April, 1452, Saturday, around 10.30pm ("at three o’clock in the night" in Renaissance time), Leonardo is born in Vinci out of wedlock to Caterina, a farmer’s daughter, and Ser Piero da Vinci, a notary (1427-1504). Recorded by Leonardo’s paternal grandfather, Antonio di Ser Piero da Vinci.

Leonardo lived in the Renaissance era. Renaissance means 'rebirth'.
