When my son was about 8 he kept telling me he felt something funny in his throat. I checked it out and his uvula was swollen and it had lengthened hanging down in his throat. It looked like a long red worm. I took him to the hospital and I found out it came from a reaction to the antibiotic penicillin. He's allergic to it and that's how his body responded. Good luck and I hope you find out what's going on with you.

usually the same thing that can cause a sore throat or tonsils. bacteria and or over working that thing can irritate it and make it swell. it is uncomfortable though. when my was swollen last year while i was ill it felt like i kept trying to swallow my tongue. kinda freaked me out a little bit.
