If the child is laughing as well it's fine, howver if it really scares the child stop doing it...

Laughing with someone is fun, laughing at someone is cruel...

If it's just for someone's own laughs, and the child is not laughing, but cries instead; then no it is not okay. It is not okay to scare a child just for the sadistic 'fun' of it.
If it is done playfully, and is a game between an adult and the child, then yes it is okay. However, be careful to not overstimulate the child. If they start getting overexcited, nervous, grumpy, cry; then stop the game.
Reassure the child as well with your words, and maybe a gentle hug.
If your child does not like the game, then don't do it.
If it is someone else doing this to your child, and you don't like it, tell them politely and firmly to stop. Same goes if it's an older child, or sibling doing it to tease the younger child. Seperate them for a while until they settle down, if the teasing gets out of control.
If it makes you uncomfortable that anyone is doing this, then tell them, that you are uncomfortable about it, and please can they not do it.

My son is 3 years old and when I hide and jump out to scare him he loves it!! He tells me to go back and hide so he can come back around and I can scare him again. He's so crazy!! He's never really gotten really scared to where it has freaked him out, I just love seeing the look on his face. but he enjoys it as well!! So I don't think it is wrong your just having fun with you kid!!

No, I don't think it is wrong. As long as you are not being malicious about it. If it is just for fun then it's fine. Jumping out and surprising a child is not going to traumatize them for life. Chances are the kid will think it is funny and try to do it to you.

As long as it don't scare them. Peep-a -boo is a great game to play with kids, they usally love it! If it scares them I would stop doing it. They will start doing it back at ya! A three your old can handle it ok.

Ok heres an idea 'For laughs...' hide behind something and jumpp right in front of her, shrieking with all the fury u can collect, and then frantically start shaking the kid from the shoulders.

not recommended, but if u really r so evil, u will die of laughter!!!

Cheers!

THINK ABOUT HOW U WOULD FEEL IF SOMEONE JUMPED OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN U WERE NOT EXPECTING THEM ,U WOULD PROBABLY BE STARTLED TO SAY THE LEAST ,NOW JUST IMAGINE HOW THE 3 YEAR OLD WOULD FEEL, PRETTY FUNNY I DONT THINK SO ,I AM SURE THERE ARE MORE WAYS TO HAVE FUN WITH HIM THAT WOULDNT TRAUMATIZE HIM ,DONT U THINK?
