You should not be criticized. Everyone has different beliefs. The problem is that gay rights is a hyper-sensitive issue. Almost anything you say on gay rights is "politically incorrect".

As long as you don't participate in anything like the KKK clan for gays, you should not be berated for your beliefs.

Believe what you want, as long as you're not making someone else's life miserable by bashing them ,judging them, ridiculing them, or trying to limit their rights and freedom.

The irony here is, you're earnestly defending your right to believe something, yet you're complaining if others believe that homosexuality is OK. If you don't like homosexuality, don't practice it. And how about not judging others, lest ye be judged. Or how about loving thy neighbor? Why are you so selective in your interpretation of the Bible?

And you know, if you were to bash Christians or Muslims, I'd also suggest you get shut up and get a clue. The Christians and Muslims I know do not represent the fringe religious fanatics of the world who try to force their beliefs down people throats through manipulation and violence.

Love the sinner hate the sin, hypocrite.

Because the belief is the product of cultural inertia. There are many things that are supposedly forbidden and sinful according to scripture that even the most rabidly zealous christian would think nothing of doing/eating/wearing.

The scripture is being used to justify a prejudice in the same way white supremacists use selected bible passages to rationalize their bigotry.

I'd observe that any bible verse quoted with a sneering tone is probably being misinterpreted.

I don't criticise homophobics for their beliefs, but for their actions. If you can keep your homophobia to yourself, and not insult anyone for being gay, I will have nothing to say against you. Remember that the idea that homosexuality is wrong is ONLY a religious idea. And people are not forced to follow exclusively religious principles, unless they are made into laws. Since homosexuality is legal, they should be allowed to practice it freely. You may not agree, but you need to let them be.

EDIT: I don't think I'm a hypocrite. I would criticise certain religious practices that are invasive of everybody's rights. Not the very fact of being a believer. I respect believers, even though I'm not one. I do not agree with their practice, and I do not join them.

Well, that's exactly what I can say of gays: I respect them, but I don't join them. BUT homosexuals aren't out there to try to control societies. That's the great difference...

Your question is very telling. Why do you feel that your beliefs should be the law that all must follow? Why are you bothered by criticism? Who cares what you like? Isn't what you believe to be 'wrong' all in your own mind? Why should gays have fewer rights, just because you don't approve?

I have to agree with you on this situation and I know that I'm also in the minority. It's not that I dislike homosexuals. In fact I have known some homosexuals that I like as people very much.

However, I don't want to hear about their sexual orientation, nor do I want to be forced to accept the sexual orientation of a person and be made to feel that I have to accept it or that means that I'm judgmental.

To me, anyone who pushes values where they say, you have to accept my beliefs as okay is pushing their values on me.

You have the right to choose your partner and the type of relationship you want, but PLEASE keep it private. Don't demand that I have to accept a gay relationship as acceptable. Don't demand that if I don't I'm narrow minded.

I have no problem with the people, I just have a problem with a person coming out of the closet, pushing their values on me, and then getting upset when I don't embrace their coming out.

You may not have chosen the gender you are attracted to, but you choose the people you have a relationship with. You also choose whether to have an intimate relationship. It's none of my business who you have a relationship with. But please don't force me to accept it.

If you are openly vocal about it like Rev. Phelps then maybe you are putting yourself in the line of fire especially when you say " I do not like homosexuals". I have relatives and friends that are homosexuals and I love them very much but I am not critical nor judgmental of them because they are good loving human beings.

Sunflower it says in your profile that you believe in world peace, and that you respect other peoples cultures, religion and beliefs yet you come out with this.

It concerns me about people who shout too much about this because its usually from people who not comfortable with themselves, and feeling guilty and so transferring that guilt on to somebody else. That's just happened with that Ted Haggard guy.

I don't understand same sex attraction myself but its no big issue to me as it doesn't affect my life, and its between the people concerned. Best just to keep your disapproval to yourself.

because its not wrong. you assume that your beleifs (homosexuality is wrong) is the supreme law, that its absolute. the reality of the matter is is that homosexuality has been around for quite a long time. its evident in nature.

your opinions on what other people do, regarding wether theyre "right" or "wrong" is just your opinion. dont want to be bothered by people like me (who criticize people for their actions) then simply do this:

SHUT UP!

simple as that.

Because who are you to judge? You don't like it if somebody else judges you for the things that you do or the way you live your life. Live and let live. Now, you don't have to LIKE what they are doing, but you have to tolerate it because whether it is right or wrong, it is here to stay.
