This question has recieved alot of funny answers. Hitler wasn't a Christian. He wasn't relgious period. The early stages of colonization didn't have a population of 70'000'000 in the America's as Eduardi suggests. Where he got that kind of figure exposes the level of fanatasy. No doubt some people have experianced relgious persecution, thats a given, but many more have been killed and persecuted by communists trying to force their agendas.

Millions, let's start with the Jews by Germans, and by their neighbors to the East and West of their homeland, Mahatma Gandhi for his beliefs in religion and freedom, The Holy Roman Crusades who killed millions in the name of God and the Roman Empire, The men who have been martyred for Buddha's sake and Hinduism, the thousands crucified by the Romans or sent to the arena's as food for the lion's and big cat's or to be stampeded or mauled to death by other brute animals with horns and teeth, our forefathers who escaped from the English rule for their religious beliefs, Martin Luther King for believing that "One Day His Children Will Live In This Nation and That It Will Be Free for His Children, Your Children, and Mine to practice as they believe, has that happened yet? If so When? Martyrs r still dying here even in America, the Salem witch trails. Look at the girls who died in the Amish community recently. Need I go further?

all but about one or two, according to scripture. and if you have a list of names of everyone who has ever lived for this 6818 years. then you know their names. and in fact you're going to die because of your religious convictions. even if your religions is policeman, engineer, geologist, athiest, or scientist your going to die for not telling the truth of G-D. the only realy big problem then is: now what? and so you are looking at roughly about 6, 000,000,000,000 lives lost religiously, three to four times each Torah Set. shalom???

starrwood, there is no sacrafice in "witch craft" however christians did kill and torture many pagan and druid people in order to convert them, which is highly ironic because they were called "hethan" and "godless" yet in the bible it clearly states in the ten commandments "thou shalt NOT kill". not to mention the hundred years war or the "crusades". not to mention the holocaust where roughly 6 million people were killed because of their religion. in roman times even the christians got a taste of what it felt like because they threw the christians to the lions for entertainment pourposes. so really there is no distinct number, but one is to many .

In the Americas alone, 70 million people were killed either to convert or for not converting, in the early stages to the 'colonisation'.
