I started painting 12-years using Acrylics, and I still use them. As far as brushes go, you can use any brush as long as its not so cheap that it looses it's bristles while you paint, that is no good. For landscapes I would suggest one each of the following sizes2",1",1/2" 1/4" and some very small brushes along with a painting knife, and whatever you find that looks interesting to you. Remember in painting, nothing is cut and dry, or set in stone. You can make you own painting instruments if you like. I did. Have fun with it, and you will paint well!

Well I can tell you what not to use lol. I tried the same thing for the first time alittle while ago, and I only had watercolor brushes. Don't use those! The hair isnt strong enough for the thick paint, and you won't get good effects. Now I'm only speculating here, but I would suggest very strong brushes. If you go to an art store, I'm sure the person working there can show you exactly what to get.

Use the ones from MyArtscape. They're good for almost all painting mediums. I got a set of 15 as a gift and I'm so happy with them! You can get them from Amazon.

the best brushes for acrylic are syntetic hair brushes. But you can use basically any kind of brush which does not loose its hair. (just hold the brush hair strongly with your hand, pul it a bit, and if some hair stays in your hand then the brush is not good)
and one more thingh, a good brush is a good tool, but it is only 10 % of painting. The rest is you. Good painting is not made because you have a good brush, but because you paint well.
good luck

im an abstract painter, i usually use water base paint or oil paints. i use different brushes. you can use brush of your choice, as long as you are used to it or your hand are comfortable using it. acryllic paint is hard to control the color desired. i advice you use oil paint, its easy to use and you can control the color you desired to., and you can combine or make and mix the result of desired color, from dark, bright to light color. you can also do pastel color by mixings oil thinner. you must have different brushes, from large, thin, small or better have all sizes of brushes, because you will need it specially if you are planning to paint sceneries, like mountain, ocean, tress, flowers in short natures design. ,water falls and plants. painting is very interesting, you can put your emotions into it, and you must be determine to be a painter. oil paint is expensive one, but you will be satisfied to the result and the lifespan of oil paint goes a long way or lifetime use. first you must paint the base color, any color you desired to use. let it dry, then like sketching pencil, use your imagination and it will come out automatically and your hands will work in accordance of your will. in water base paint , if you made a mistakes you can easily erase it by means of washing it with water using the brush, if you want finishing touches looks natural, use oil paints. let it dry naturally. painting in canvass with stand is comfortable. if you are painting dont rush. painting is time consuming. accuracy is in your hands and imaginations. good luck
