I think you're dad is being inappropriate. You shouldn't be sacrificing your friendship if he wasn't acting that way. Why don't you confront him and tell him that he should stop writing to Ellie. If he doesn't listen, tell your mother.

Why in the world is your Father writing to your friend! Especially if it is something that is suggestive. I bet it did come as a surprise to you and that you don't want to think of your Father in that context. So your probably in shock. But, you should be showing that letter to your Mother right away. So she, can confront your Father with it. This is serious business. And shouldn't be taken lightly. He overstepped the boundary of being a Father and a husband. I am serious, get what he wrote to your friend and show it to your Mother in private. Your Dad is not acting in the best interests of you, your Mother or your friend. He has crossed the line. And your Mother deserves to know what he is doing so she can take care of you.

oh wow thats a hard one!!
You should be asking dear abby or dr laura but in my opinion talk to your father so he relizes it's not an innocent letter but something that can harm your family has your friend "Ellie" hit on him or anything or was it out of the blue? Did she show you the note or did you find it? If your father says it was a joke talk to your mother about it she may already suspect something

Personally, I wouldn't let it go. I'd talk to my dad first before talking with my friend. However, your friend might not have the same interest in your dad as he has in her. This could just be a one-sided thing.

Proceed carefully and listen to both sides of the story before drawing any conclusions.

I would say something about it to my father if I were you because not only is he disrespecting you but he is also disrespecting your mother. You need to put him in check, for real!

Keep the friend, get rid of the father. Kidding, you can't choose your parents, but you friend needs to tell your father is advances are not welcome, with a police escort if necessary.
