I disagree.
Greed = Power = The dishonest men in the name of politics and religion = War. God has nothing to do with it. He gave us our free agency and those who are greedy and want the power have messed it up for the rest of us. They started way back when time began.

yes and no.
from my perspective it goes: god >>> religion >>> sects >>> sectarian violence (not just in the middle east) >>> war.
its not gods and religions that make the war, its the people who interpret it and see others as lesser or evil and declaring the war.
now if the bible (or any holy scripture) didnt have things like "yo uare chosen" and "nonbeleivers are evil" in them im sure there would be alot less violence and death.
of course thats not guaranteed.

it is hard to pinpiont religion as the starter of wars for it is mankinds own destiny to dominate each other there-fore we will have wars no matter what
