Sweetie, if he is locked up for a quarter of a century, then you should consider finding a boy friend that you can spend your life with.. And have a life. Since he is in jail now, believe me he is a smooth talker and will lay guilt trips on you to make you feel guilty that your living your life and he is stuck in there. Don't buy into it. Another thing, depending on what security prison or jail he is in, after awhile, they find others online. So think about this before you invest any more of your time. Believe me he will be completely different when he comes out. His whole personality will change from being in there that long. He will not be the same person you knew when he went in.

It would depend on why he's locked up. If he was locked up for killing or raping someone or selling drugs or molesting children or armed robbery or assault with a deadly weapon or any manner of physical violence then I wouldn't be there to support him.
If he was locked up for something stupid like embezzlement or forgery then I might write. I guess I don't have patience with people who break the law (usually more than once which is what lands them in jail in the first place) and then expect "support." Maybe what they need is to have to tough it out alone and serve their time and realize that there are consequences to doing wrong - like hurting those who love you.

If he was locked up for 25 years, he's not the type of guy a girl needs anyway. And unless he's in jail for failure to pay fines or something menial like that, you might ought to ask yourself if you need him now anyways.
He wants mental support for 25 years? Keep a subscription of Men's Health and The Jailbird Weekly headin his way.

Hey there. I too have a bf locked up and it is not easy to deal with . The question you have to ask yourself is --- if he loved you why is he in jail and not out with you instead. and also why do u have to put your life on hold for him when he is the one that is supposed to be getting punished. I have done this 3 times already and it doesn't get any better. I really love my man but it is not fair to us as women to have to waite and I think I have mad up my mind that I am better than that.
Oh by the way... does he say he is gonna change and be a better man? They all say that and mine hasn't changed in 4 yrs

the only way i can think of is, visiting him regularly. stil be the same girl that you are when he is still out there with you. show him that you care, bring him your own baked cookies or home made food or little gifts you made for him.
when you cannot visit him, write him letters send him little gifts as well. its like he is in another country somewhere. thats the only way if the guy is in prison, i suppose.
as an aside, how long do you think you can last?are you willing to wait for him for a quarter of a century?
i salute you then^^.

25 years is a LONG time!
In 25 years you could do ALL the following:
-meet a decent guy
-get married
-have a couple of kids
-see those kids grown up
Do you want to sit-out an entire lifetime, waiting for a 'winner' like him?

Communicate to him as much as possible, just being there for him is the support itself, no need to say or do anything, just be there, visit him &show you will wait (if you really want to wait)

Well, if he's in jail, obviously you shouldn't be with him. Obviously he did something wrong and isn't that great of a person. I really don't think you should be dating a criminal.
