He started out 2 days ago vomiting only 1 time. It was clear with very small amount of something like milk. Didn't eat that day. Next day he vomited, this time it was yellow with streaks of blood in it. He has been lightly caughing with a gag at the next of his caughing spell. He has been losing a lot of weight the past month. He has been shaking like he is scared to death, but nothing to be scared of. I smelled his mouth and it smells so bad it almost made me vomit. Took him to the doctor, the doc said his is fine, did blood workup and x-rays. 500 dollars later, doc said he is fine. YEAH RIGHT. I think he is dying a painful death. I believe he has cancer or something fatal, I HOPE NOT. I forgot to say he has very little energy. He is 13 years old and is a lab mix. Great dog, but he is real sick.

If anyone can help, I really appreciate! We want to keep him for as long as we can, but we don't want him to suffer.

Sincerely,
David S.

Hi guy ....don't listen to me...But feel what your dog feels...He has probally had a good life...He is in dog years is 91 dog years old.... He right now is saying "Thank You" to you... for being the best of the best of a owner that any dog can have.... but he is telling you in the garden of eden God needs a dog like him to be by his Gods side...He is sick don,t let him suffer on earth..If he could talk he would thank and kiss you ...Let him go to sleep...Take him to the vet...Remember him and mayby consider taking a new companion to be with you. He would be proud....Do cry only for a little while cuz he want,s you to be happy...He would tell you to go to a shelter and pick out a pup so the pup could be as loved as he was...It is hard but God has a plan... even for dogs..God Bless

David, its obvious something's going on; with the symptoms he's experiencing and with your instincts.

Its pretty upsetting to me that your vet gave you no other recourse other then to say he is "fine". Even if he is physically "fine"; could there be any other reason? Dogs don't just vomit bile (stomach acids) 2 days in a row and be the bill of health. The fact that he gives you no other options but to leave the clinic with your dog still experiencing his symptoms irritates the heck outta me.

I'm echoing the others statements: **GO TO A NEW VET!!** Call friends you know with pets and ask them where they take theirs to. Basically, call someone you know and trust for a vet that gives a rats patootie about an animal's well being. Then call that vet and give them all the information, including the testing you've done as well as the continuance of his symptoms. Of course, many facilities will tell you just to bring the dog in, because it is essentially a business, too. But, if you come across a vet clinic willing to give you further information other then "Well, we can check him out", the better.

Until you're able to get him to one, try offering him a little bit of puppy milk. At least then he'll have some sort of nutrition fed into his system. (His energy levels are low because he hasn't eaten, obviously.)

Really hope he feels better soon!!

Find another vet, but be prepared to say good bye. Thirteen is very old for a large dog. If he's in pain quit being selfish and let him cross over. He will meet you at The Rainbow Bridge.

Yikes! Sounds like a case of Old Man's Syndrome. He's obviously sick, but when you drag him to the doc just like any old man would he convinces him he's fine. It's a stomach ulcer that was probably healing if it went undetected. If he is in pain allow him to rest and save what energy he has. Give him plenty of hugs and pet him often. Speak to him in a soothing voice and tell him you love him...

Find a different Vet MAN!!
OBVIOUSLY the guy you went to is an idiot!
Please, look up "Emergency Veterinary Services" in your phone book, or on line. Then get your poor dog there ASAP!!
