how long after the petition for an alien relative is if filed does it take to get an interview for a green card?

Well seeing how there are many people who have waited years before you you it could take a long while. That's if they don't get the ball going and start the process of getting those the green cards they need to become legal. You could always try to get a work visa.

It depends on the type of relationship and the backlog for that category, since many have numerical limits. You need to keep track of the monthly visa bulletin:

man boy it all depends!! like my girls cousin ....she was born here and she wanted to fix her parents papers so when she hit 18 she did all the appliction things...and for the mom the green card came after a year and for the dad it came after 10 years!!! so it depends on your record i guess.....but on the safe you should go talk to a lawyer

go to www.uscis.gov and click processing dates. check the dates for your closest center for I 485.
