Well, some people DO think that others will look down up them when they admit they're wrong. It's also a matter of pride or "losing face". I personally find that it does take courage to admit you're wrong and to apologize, but I try to do it because it's the right thing to do.

i admire you for being able to admit it when you are wrong. but this is not the case for many people. a lot of ego is involved and some people think that if they do admit, they are putting themselves down. subconciously they want to be right all the time.
its like saying.. why cant people be nice all the time? its a good thing to be, it promotes love and peace. isnt that what we all want? but realistically, it cannot take place- just the same way not anyone can say sorry and admit their mistakes voluntarily.

good point. and to be honest people will look down on them if they don't admit they are wrong, I have had many people say that I am a good man for knowing when to back down and acknowledge the fact that I am wrong and I realize it

Yes I agree with Slur. It's the need to feel pride, but to admit being wrong brings on a sense of shame, so they avoid it at all costs.

For most people admitting being wrong also means admitting to something you'd prefer not to acknowledge about yourself.
Too many people think admitting you are wrong as a sign of weakness, but to me I think it is a sign of not only strength but fairness.

Most the time I wont admit when im wrong - think its from my pops stubborness( Im REALLY stubborn sometimes) and i usually like to do things my own way ( thet way i know itll be done right.) If its just words to tell me its wrong i usually wont back down - if im shown its wrong - then ill believe it.

for some people their pride is more important than their relationships and more important than their concern for others. It's a very selfish trait. If you get involved with someone like that dont ever expect them to be considerate of you in other things either.

some people are so passionate about their answer whether it's wrong or right, that when they realize it IS wrong it's much harder to admit. or like the other person said.....pride

maybe they believe so strongly they are right, that they fight for their opinion, but in the end if somebody opens their eyes, they refuse to give up even when they know its a lost cause, maybe because of their pride!
