A text message is clear and to the point, plus you can answer whenever you can.

With a call, you have to immediately pick it up and talk. Sometimes, all you need to do it tell someone something quick like "Meet me at whatever time?" and then you reply with "Okay" or "How about this other time?" That would be a pointless phone call.

But if it's an in depth conversation or just an actual conversation, it's stupid to have them in text messages.

Texting is the new thing. When you want to give a simple message or ask a question, its easier and more comfortable through a simple text than over the phone because it might lead to a conversation that she might not be in the mood for. I personally don't like it because it cost me 10 cents. I hate it when i text them back an answer and they reply "okay" or "thanks", which cost another 10 cents.

If its just for telling me to meet them somewhere or for me to call or the fact that they can't answer the phone right now... then its ok. I use a lot of preset messages and part t9. You have to program the t9 as u use it and its kinda difficult to learn but it works better once you get the hang of it. I personally hate when someone sends back a text that say "k" or bye...
Otherwise I prefer the phone conversation myself.

It keeps them from having to carry on a conversation. A text is right to the point and requires no verbal interaction. No real skills and no unwanted questions or interaction with the other person.

In short, they do not want to talk to you, but the want to impart something to you with out having to deal with you directly.

from personal experience ( i text sometimes ). it's less pressure to saying the right thing. but sometimes it could be legitmate reasons, like for instance i text at work because we're not supposed to have to many personal phone calls, i just avoid talking outloud and text. once again less pressure in all aspects

Perhaps, it was too late to call. So, she texted instead.
