I wouldn't call our military soilders who have died Heroes. I would call them victims.
They are victims of our ignorant, stupid, close minded Government leaders. It is not fair to them to send them to a Country we should have never invaded anyways, but keep them there so they can be attacked everyday and face the possibility of dying, and for what??
No good reason at all!!!
As an American I am ashamed of our President, our Congress and everybody who works in Washington not doing anything about the atrosities committed by this Administration. I would like to see them all be jailed for the crimes they have committed, and be held accountable for their carelessness while in office.
I agree with you. Americans need to wake to f**k up!!!!!!!!

You don't seem to know very much about anything, do you?
American's who died on a battlefield risked their lives, paid a heavy price with their LIVES for OUR country! Some soldier's DIE in wars, risking their own safety for their fellow brother's in arms.
I want to ask you a question. Who do you think you are to KNOW whether or not this war America is in is unwinnable? Did God himself come to you, and whisper the final outcome of the war? By what authority do you have to know so much about the future?
By what trustworthy source, other than a blog, someones opinion, or your own misinformed opinion, do you come by your information?
My feeling about you, and your question's are not about you wanting legitimate answers to them, but to insult, defame, and dishonor or BRAVE, and hard working, DEDICATED military, who LOVE their country.
It is a shame you cannot find something more productive to do, like perhaps broaden your limited education, unbiasly. Try it, you might find you have misguided opinion's, and accept balanced information.

We consider them heroes because we're supposed to be fighting for the right thing. Like fighting the Taliban, the Nazis in WW 2. We helped liberate South Korea in the Korean war. We fought the British in the revolutionary war to gain independence. But what is considered right is sometimes is a bit blurry like Vietnam and the ongoing war in Iraq. It seemed like a good idea at the time but the longer it goes on the harder to stay the course.

And now the award for "The Person Who Missed The Point By The Greatest Margin" goes to......SIMON the MORON!
You idiot, we don't honor a person for dying. If we did that then we would honor ANYONe who died. Why do the British honor Princess Diana, or the Indians honor Ghandi? Is it because they died you dumbbell? Of course not. It was what they DID while they were alive. They believed in something so much they dedicated their lives to a cause.
If you read more and understood what it meant to give up something others for others you would understand this concept.

its not the acual dying thats heroic its the reason behind the dying. giving up your life for others. and i wouldnt go talkin **** until youve been in iraq fighting and have seen first hand the reasons why people are dying. most solders are not even thinking about the president or rumsfield when theyre out there. they are thinking that they need to watch thier *** so it dont get blown off. they are thinking of the well being of the other men fighting along side them and doing thier best to make sure everyone is as safe as possible. its not like they are trying to die or anything.

Because they fought for their country and what it stands for. It takes someone of high caliber to lay down their life for family and friends.
Its also not just Americans. If it were, there wouldnt be any senseless suicide bombings in the middle east.
I dont know where you are right now, and the U.S. may not be perfect, but we are still the best nation in the world. If your here and dont like it, you are more than welcome to leave. Of course unless you are here on a work visa so you can run the Jiffy Mart for six years and then go back home after selling it to your cousin or other family member to get out of paying taxes.
If thats the case, you shouldnt be here anyway.

A mother who runs into the road to save her child and gets hit by a car and dies is considered a hero. A person who gets in front of another to block them from a bullet is considered a hero. Do you really need to ask why deceased veterans are considered heroes?

I don't care if you think they aren't heroes. They died for a purpose, and that purpose was to protect our freedoms. My sister, for example, died because she loves our family... she wanted us to have freedom, and she became a Marine to protect freedom, because she believed in our rights to live on in a better life. To say "needlessly" is the most insulting thing I've heard all day... or all week, maybe.

When you enlist and finish basic training, you know one day someone may order you to do something that you know may kill you, but you will still do it. That is Honor. When you are in the military nothing is more important than your mission, not who is running things.
Yes, I understand your protest, but do not confuse the two issues.
