I like to put a collar on puppies at about 7 weeks old..however, I use a soft harness for all training...it is safer and frightens them less..

I, personally, like to put a collar on as young as 8 weeks old. This lets them get used to the idea of the collar being on their neck. The only thing is, JUST MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE FIT EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS OR SO. IF YOU CAN GET TWO FINGERS BETWEEN THE COLLAR AND THE PUPPY'S NECK, THEN THE COLLAR IS FINE!!! Remember that your puppy will be growing and you need to adjust the fit of the collar as it grows.
I know people have thier daughters ears pierced when they are tiny babies, and the babies don't think anything of the earrings being in their ears. It is the same with the puppy and the collar. Plus, if you put an Identification tag on the collar, the puppy/dog has a better chance of being returned to you.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL1ok
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

It's always good to have a collar on your dog/puppy, in case it gets out. Then the person who finds it can call the number on the tag...

Puppies should have a collar as early as possible. They need to be used to having one on before you try to leash train.

Put it on any time but start training at 10-12 wks...they are old enough to understand at this point.. I have a dog that learned Bang your dead trick at 8 wks. not using the collar.

10 months old is perfect. That's how old my dog was when I put a collar on my dog. She's a year old now.

Immediatly. I didnt put one on my first till 16 weeks. She was harder to train than the one I put on at 8 weeks. Its great because if she were to ever get away, she would always have the collar on and someone would know where she lived. They are always trying to get them off if they are not used to them. Better safe than puppyless. :)

Right away. Many things you don't need a collar for, but for teaching it how to walk on a leash, teaching it what food is off etc, you need one.
