I cannot help it. I must honor my fellow warrior.

Pay attention to the information. It is critical to understanding TRUE honor. Not honor to your government, but HONOR to your COUNTRY.

He IS the most decorated Combat hero in the HISTORY of the United States of America's Armed Forces.

Anyone who does not know Audie's history like the back of their hand does not deserve the right to vote.

To the scum who said Audie Murphy was a pedophile, I would KILL you if you were in the same room with me right now.

the one thing the answers do not mention from those I have read, is he was about to be withdrawn from combat when wounded and sent to West Point, but the leg wound was so severe that the could not pass the physical. Too Bad, out country needed/needs leaders like him. I think in order to go to the military acadamies one should have spent at least one tour in ground forces such as army or marines to give them a real founding in warfare at its basic level.

Yes, Audie Murphy was truly a great man. His service in WW2
is the stuff of legend.
When speaking of his acting career, one must realize that Hollywood was still somewhat respectable at the time.
Thank you for this question.
BTW, I think Carlos Hathcock (USMC sniper in Vietnam) is another old soldier whose memory should not fade away.

The most decorated soldier, Amercian, in WW2. Became an actor and died in a plane crash in 1968, I think it was that year.

as everone knows in the american forces they give you medal for getting out of bed in the morning,in comparison to a lot of other armies like the british, the german, the russian, etc you have to have really have done some very brave things, but audie murphy was the ideal candidate for the hollywood heroe ,so thats what happened ,hollywood had a readymade pretend heroe to sell to the public,so he was not much different to elvis presley nothing but bullshit, geez you yanks are full of it,

I am a recipient of the Sargeant Audi Murphy Award. He was a great hero, good actor, but a piss poor human being. A little known fact about him is that after the war and the movies were over, he was also a convicted petifile.
