Both of these are true. You can also whiten your nails with a solution of common hydrogen peroxide and water.
Rinsing hair in cooler water not only seals the cuticle making the hair shiny, but it also helps with getting fewer tangles and moisture loss.
To keep nail polish lasting a little longer at the tips, apply a top coat along the "free edge" of the nail (the part that extends from your finger tip) to seal the color.
Good luck!

Hmm.. I'm not sure of the lemon juice. But, as far as the cold water after washing, I've also heard this several times from professionals. The cold water is supposed to smooth the hair's cuticle.
Since heat is actually breaking the bonds in the hair (this is why hot curling irons work in reshaping hair, and perms achieve the same response chemically), it seems to follow that non-hot water for washing would be best.. i.e. the cold water rinse. Probably best to use cool water for washing too.

yep... they're true. Also, lemon is great to make your hair shiny. Just shampoo/conditon and rinse as usual. Then rinse again with the juice of a squeezed lemon. It really works. A raw egg will also make your hair softer. I know you wanted nail tips...but hair tips wouldn't hurt. Although here are a few nail tips:
-If you ever squeeze lemons... don't throw the lemon away. Use them to clean under your nails by pretty much scaping the flesh off the lemon and under your nails. Then just wash it so all the lemon flesh is out. Gets you pretty clean nails.
-DRINK WATER-great for healthy nails
- drink fresh carrot juice. It has a lot of vitamins essential for stong nails.
-don't use artificial nails. They will destroy the underlying nail.
-rub petroleum jelly to the cuticle and the skin around the nail every night for hydrated nails. Castor or olive oil works too.
- avoid polish removers with acetone or formaldehyde.
Remember: Great diet= Great nails and hair

im not sure about the lemon juice with the nails but i do know that if you rinse freshly coloured hair in cold water it makes the colour last longer because the cold is closing the cuticle of the hair i dunno about making it shiny though

Rinsing with cold water helps to seal the cuticle, which might result in shinier hair. Just a guess.

I think the first one really works. And maybe even the second because at salons they usually rinse your hair with colder water

Washing your hair in cold water will make your hair shiny, the cold water seals the hair cuticle, and makes it lie flat...Making it um, shiny...
But I don't know about the other one.
