What if you went to war as an American soldier, killed an Iraqi man, and later found out he was related to you (close relation, like a brother)? What would you do? Not trying to be harsh, here, I just had a thought...

Are you trying to combat violence with emotionalism?
Answering violence with violence has been the only answer to the age old question of 'How can we live in peace?' since the beginning of time. We have a police force to 'enforce' the peace. We have a military to protect our peace from destroyers. Jesus made a huge change of personal behavior in regards to violence, but Jesus wasn't attempting to change national governance and responsibility with regard to violence. So, as a soldier, serving the purposes of national security, I would do what I signed up to do. Defend the constitution of the United States from all attackers. This includes my brother if he decides to join the enemies of our way of life. I love my brothers and personal relationships make such responsibilities harder, but the weightier commitment is to the personal freedoms and rights of us all. Not to a brother who would destroy them.

well, i'm sure it's happened but is pretty unlikely overall, especially with you not having any clue you were related to someone in Iraq. if you found out i guess you'd feel pretty darn sh*tty, but it would be nothing compared to the Civil War, for example, where it was very common to have family and friends on opposite sides.

I dont think I would sweat it to much if he was a terrorist pluss if I did not know my brother well enough to know he was fighting for some crazy radical cause then I probably wouldnt have known him at all

I'd have a sentimental thought about him if I even knew him, then realize I probably didn't even know him, and even if I did, he picked the wrong side, and then go on. God Bless you.

First, why is my brother aiding the terrorists? If he is...tough. I love my brothers and I would feel bad but by god, I would fight for my country even if its against my dumb &$$ brother that is shooting at me.

If it's me or him, it's going to be him, I could care less who he, or for that matter she is, if they are out to kill me, my job is to get them first.
