I had a dog and I loved him so much that when I first saw him I had to have him.... He had white and black fluffy hair. I had to work for $120 to buy him. My mom and dad told me if I wanted him I had to pay for him and accept the resonsibilities. So I took him home and 1 year and 5 mounths later he ran off and never came back. I loved him so much I wish I could find him or even just see him again.\
Has this ever happened to you?

I am very sorry to hear that. No it hasn't happened to me. have you posted fliers around town or offered a reward? Place an ad in your local paper? Check the local humane society or rescue groups. Someone may have found him and took him home and didn't know you were searching for him. Usually a dog will come back, unless someone has picked it up. There are cases where dogs have been found months and even years later. I agree-always have an id tag, microchipping is good too if they are turned into a shelter. Having both is even better! Good luck!!!

it has nothing to do with you....some doggies just love to explore, and they get lost, have no idea where they are at, have no way of coming home. Males are more apt to do this than females, especially if they have not been fixed....even then, exploring they do go. My baby ran off over and over, always got a call that someone in the area had him...would go and pick him up. He was so relieved when he would see me...but the next time the door was left open, off he would go.
He died 2 days ago, quite suddenly, nothing could be done to save him...I know how you feel...terrible, pain just does not go away. Someone has your baby and cares for him greatly. Your dog is happy somewhere, take heart in that. Always, always have a tag with your phone number and his name on it at all times. Peace and love.

He may have had an urge to roam in search of a girlfriend if he was not neutered. Its also possible that he got picked up by someone and they kept him as a pet.

Some runaways also get injured or killed and can't come home. It would be very difficult to lose a pet and not know what happened to him. Your best bet is an ID tag, microchip and secure fence.

My dear baby died and I was devastated for months. Then I found out about The Rainbow Bridge and found comfort.

This past February I got very sick and had to spend six months in rehab. During that time my husband was unable to care for all of our dogs and he took some of them to a rescue group. I never got a chance to say good bye to some of them. You're right it does hurt. I wish there was something I could say that would alleviate your pain, but it's not possible.

ive had dogs that i thought ran off but they ended up at the animal shelter so u might want to check there. my dogs sometimes will go somewhere and i won't know where they are but they always come back unless the animal control got them, and if u let him outside before and he ran off and came back or just stayed around your house but this one time u haven't seen him return then he is probably at the animal shelter unless he is at some1 elses house.

Hmm, has this happened before? and how long has he been gone for. Does he know the area? if yes and he DOES come back, then reward him with his favorite food or a bone. This will encourage him to come back again if he leaves at a later date. If he doesn't know the area then take him for walks around where you live.
