I have never heard of tipping your plumber...

If they are a lic contractor - they own their own business and that's the best way to profit.

If they work for a lic contractor - they are paid a good salary, maybe even union wages.

If they are a friend, tipping may be an insult - just buy him/her dinner, a 12 pack of beer/bottle of wine or some other kind of gift.

Mybe I'm wrong, I just never heard of tipping a plumber... hmmm?

At a hundred dollars an hour, they shouldnt need a tip.
No one tips carpenters or lawyers so why do you feel the need to tip the plumber?
Only tip those in life that perform personal services for you such as a valet, waiter or (sp) matroidi at a restraunt, cab driver (if he is good) or bellperson at a hotel. .

As the daughter of a plumber I can tell you that plumbers are not usually tipped. My dad and the guys that worked for him were always really happy if a customer offered them a coffee or a homebaked muffin (blueberry is their preference).

I did not know you were supposed to tip a plumber,
they did a job and gave you a bill for it, that should be enough.
the ones you should tip are the employees that work for a wage and give you good service.

I never knew it was appropriate to tip plumbers at all. They charge what they expect and get paid by the hour as it is.

They charge plenty, it is as if they put their own tip in their service charge! Only if you are part of the rich and famous would you choose to tip the plumber.

Since when do we have to tip a plumber who is making $100.00 an hour? I only tip wait staff and others who make below minimum wage.

Tradespersons are paid by the hour or an agreed-upon contract amount which should include labor and materials. The only extra money paid will be for tax, if applicable.

you don't tip plumbers, electricians carpenters and the like... they perform a professional service and their price reflects the tip... If you want to do extra then offer a soft drink or coffee (or the like) Nothing further is expected...
