No. Pepto Bismol isn't even good for some people.

That's a funny question. Good one!

If you're serious, I don't know, but here's a guess. I would avoid Pepto Bismol in dogs. It contains bismuth, and I have no idea how that would affect dogs. Instead, I'd try Kaopectate. I contains kaolin, and pectin. Kaolin is a type of white clay and pectin is a gel in preserves. I think it would be a better bet for being safe for dogs.

Pepto-Bismol is for humans, not for animals. The main ingredient in Pepto-Bismol is not reccommended for children under twelve, it certainly shouldn't be for animals, either!

UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO KILL YOUR DOG, THEN DON'T GIVE HIM HUMAN MEDICINE!

Animals react differently to our medicine than we do! Even if your dog was a human, there are some severe reactions that might happen to anyone...

* Dysentery—This condition may get worse; a different kind of treatment may be needed

* Gout—The salicylate in this medicine may worsen the gout and make the medicines taken for gout less effective

* Hemophilia or other bleeding problems—The salicylate in this medicine may increase the chance of bleeding

* Kidney disease—There is a greater chance of side effects because the body may be unable to get rid of the bismuth subsalicylate

* Stomach ulcer—Use of this medicine may make the ulcer worse

* Allergic reaction- There is a chance that a person could have a severe allergic reaction when taking Bismuth Subsalicylate, which is found in Pepto-Bismol.

You should take your dog to the vet immediately, or at least switch out his dog food to maybe dry dog food for a couple days.

I don't want to see a dog die. Take him to the vet or change out his dog food. Please.

Yes it is perfectly safe give him about a teaspoon with a child's medicine spoon. My vet told me to give it to my dog and I have been giving it to all my dogs for a few years now without any problems. If you look at some of the meds a vet gives you will probably notice it is the same meds given to humans. My dog just finished a bottle of donital which is the same meds I took as a child. This donital my vet gave my dog looked and smelled just like that I took. My vet told me that any meds you would give a child is safe to give your dog.

I would not give my animals any medications made for people. Dogs and Cats react very differently to some medicines than people do. It could make your dog sicker or worse. Please call your vet or go onto a web site and see what they suggest for diarrhea in dogs and go that route. It sounds like you may want to change your dogs diet also. He may have a sensitive stomach and intestinal tract. They make foods for dogs with sensitive stomachs, see if that works.

Yes, the vet said to give it to a dog that had the same problem. It will take a day or two to kick in but it will help. It is safe to give to your dog.
