I would suggest lowlights! If your already blonde, why go lighter if you are feeling washed out? Stay within 1-2 levels of your natural color at first if you are at all nervous, also you can use a semi-permanent color like Shades by Redken. There is no peroxide in it so it is gentle on your hair. Good Luck

I think you should not let other people's opinions (the media, your husband) sway you at all. If you can look in the mirror everyday and say to yourself, "I like the way I look right now" disregarding everyone elses opinions but the only one that truely matters- your own, then keep your hair color. If you really do feel that your hair color just isn't you, then I'd go to several salons and ask about it- about your complexion and stuff like that, but not get anything done until your really sure. Even then I'd try those non perminant things they sell at the store that wash out in a month or whatever before commiting all the way. I think that if you have light eyebrows and eyelashes, getting darker hair will probably make you look a bit off, but I'm no professional. By the way, I'm also a natural blonde and have tried other colors but found, suprisingly, that I'm just too attached to my hair color to do anything else with it! It feels like a part of my personality, and I'm very proud to say I'm not a 'dumb blonde'

I think you should talk to a hair dresser. If you have Mario Triccoci - they are the best! There is a process like reverse highlights that you can try I think it's called low lights where you can add in a few darker tones. That might be just the ticket for creating some individuality to your look and avoiding the trashy Hollywood look - of course - you can't look trashy if you're naturally blonde - most of the porn stars - nothing is natural from their hair to their toenails - and that's obvious.

A darker color will make you look even more washed out. Best way to fix that is either highlights, or go a little lighter. I'm blonde (dirty strawberry blonde), and I don't feel it is trashy, unless you are trying to hard to be sexy, if its natural, or looks natural, then don't worry about it.

aaw.. I hate the blonde stereotypes and stuff, but if you like yourself this way, don't change.. but you said you feel washed out. I would suggest adding some warm tones to your haircolor. You could have your stylist weave in a warm golden blonde or even a warm red brown if you like! If you do this, have him/her apply a complimenting tint to your brows and lashes, as well, so it looks natural. I have sandy blonde hair, too, and I usually put in highlights and lowlights all over.. it gives lots of dimension and warmth without looking like I color my hair.

I got tired of my whole head being blonde with highlights also. I went to my stylist and had a brown put in underneath and partially through the top. It's called a peek-a-boo??? To say the least, my boyfriend loved my hair blonde too but he likes it now also... LOL...He says he has the best of both worlds now, blonde and brunette... It's your hair and I think you should do what you feel most comfortable with! Good Luck!!!

I say hit up a salon and check out their samples. You can just sit there with a book and go through it until you find something. Most good salons won't mind you doing this, as they want a potential client to be happy and they could even give you tips.
You can also use temp dye that washes out to find the correct color you wish for.
screw your husband, if he gets all bent out of shape ask him, "did you marry my hair or me?"

Try a dark chocolate brown withsome honey highlights. actually you might just need to use the brown dye since you're already highlighted.
Just try one of the 30 day wash outs to see if you really like it before you go permanent.

it's confused and why do u care what other people stereotype?? If your husband likes it then cool but if you need a change then do something a bit darker with highlights. it will look different but it will go back to normal..L

you may want to consider low lights. It will be subtle change for you. I think it does wonders for light complected people. My sister in law had it done and for the first time I noticed her eyes! she also had her eyebrows darkened a little..what a difference!
