well it hurts a bit,, but not much more than what it did when they put on the braces... You will find it odd to actually feel the smoothness now after having braces for so long..

Yes, the teeth are very sensitive to the sanding. It varies tooth to tooth. My orthodontist told me the bottom front teeth are the most sensitive, but I had some teeth that were more sensitive than the bottom front. It was a sharp, electrical type sensation in each tooth. Your orthodontist will only do one tooth at a time. The feeling seemed to extend up through the root. It only takes a few minutes to remove the cement. You will need to rinse and spit a few times. If you can go through two years of braces, you can sit through a few minutes of sanding. Good luck and always smile!

There is no pain whatsoever with getting your braces taken off. They only put spacers in when you initially place braces to make room for the bands. You don't bleed at all if you kept up with your oral health. Personally I felt like I had Mick Jagger lips 'cause the braces feel so big in your mouth. I think the brace adjustments hurt worse than putting or taking them off.

I had braces back in the stone age and remember their removal. It was mildly uncomfortable at times but did not amount to much compared to the pleasure of having them off. I am sure that it is even less uncomfortable now.
Stick with your retainer when you get it. That is what stabilizes the positioning and lets you keep the smile for which you worked so hard.
Best of luck.

I'm a dentist and so "of course it won't hurt". But i also had braces, it didn't hurt. I've "sanded" the acrylic off of peoples teeth. i asked them during and afterwards. They all said it didn't hurt. And I don't know what spacers they're talking about. You won't have to get a shot and be numb. But, you're teeth are gonna feel really wierd when you get them off. And you'll be super happy.

It doesn't hurt, and I don't know what blood people are talking about, they must have really bad dental habits. If you brush well then your gums will be in good condition so there should be no blood. I remember them being warm, and that was odd, but not painful. When you eat it is weird too, and cold stuff can hurt a little. Don't be worried about it, it really doesn't hurt unless you have something else wrong in your mouth.

i have REALLY sensitive teeth, so when they sanded off the cement, it made a grinding, kind of itchy sensation in my head. i didn't like it at all. it was uncomfortable, but it doesn't HURT. you should be fine. just make sure they get ALL the cement off, or you'll have problems with plaque getting stuck to it. it SUCKS! but congrats on getting them off. ask for a permanent retainer, because nobody will MAKE you wear yours at night, and your teeth will get all crooked again if you don't. i learned this the hard way :(

I didn't have anything Sanded off my teeth after my braces were taken off. In fact, the ortho just bushed my teeth with a regular tooth brush and it felt wonderful.
I only felt a little tugging sensation while they actually took them off, that's it. No need to worry, be happy about the big day!!!

"Sand the Cement"? My son had braces, there was no cement involved, no sanding. Where are you?
