To KNOW that you are loved is absolutely essential for mental well being. The absence of such knowledge leads to depression. Depression is associated with negative thinking. It is a cyclic thing feeding on itself. A negative thought brings on depression and that leads to more negative thinking etc. To break this cycle try forcing your self to think positive thoughts when you catch yourself thinking negatively. It is difficult because negative thinking is powerful. Think of when you have been loved.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, the treatment of choice for depression is antidepressant medication combined with psychotherapy (talk therapy). In using a psychotherapist, I recommend finding a licensed mental health professional who specializes in the treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders.
Cheers!

There are several supplements, herbs, and vitamins used as depression medication
Exercise, proper diet, relaxation techniques, and yoga can help fight depression. If you have moderate or severe depression, or are currently taking pharmaceutical medicines for depression, discuss with your doctor before adding any supplements. Some of these supplements used for depression help can be quite powerful and may interact with medicines.
We now have Mind Power Rx which has mood support properties in addition to overall mind enhancing qualities. See below after this list. Here is a list of nutrients and herbs for depression:
5-HTP may sometimes start working within hours. 5-HTP converts into serotonin, and important brain chemical involved in mood, appetite, and impulse control. 5-HTP suits those whose depression is associated with anxiety, restlessness, or racing thoughts.
SAM-e a powerful nutrient that starts working within hours. A recent study found SAM-e was helpful even in depressed patients who did not respond well to Prozac and other SSRIs. SAM-e is best suited for those whose depression is associated with low energy, low motivation, and no anxiety. For those whose depression is associated with anxiety, 5-HTP is a better option. There is a risk for overstimulation with SAM-e use, hence dosage should be kept low and it would be good to take a day or two off when one notices overstimulation. SAM-e is not advised for manic depression.
St. John's wort is an herb used for depression, usually takes a few days to work.
Acetyl-l-carnitine can lift mood and enhance mental activity. It is found in Mind Power Rx.
B vitamins including pantothenic acid have a mild but pleasant influence on mood. Supplementing with folic acid could be helpful for depression.
Fish Oils have mood balancing properties. Their effect is mild.
CoQ10 helps with energy
Tryptophan is back on the market
CDP-choline
NADH to be used occasionally, not daily
DHEA in low doses in older individuals who are hormone deficient, and only temporarily.
Pregnenolone in low doses in older individuals who are hormone deficient, and only temporarily.
Cordyceps
Maca
Muiria Puama takes two or three days. Also used as an aphrodisiac.

the best way i can say is try to keep yourself busy and keep your mind off all of your problems that are causing you the depression. When u start thinking of what makes you depressed make your mind think of something else that makes you happy or find something you like doing and do it until you get your mind off your sadness.

surround yourself with happy people, listen to happy music, eat foods you like, go out whenever someone asks you, make yourself do it, and whenever you have a negative thought, pinch yourself. try to focus on the good things, like how pretty the colors of leaves are, the sound that shoes make when people walk, or the different smiles people have, just distract yourself with trivial things, and try not to think too much.
