thought you were suspended. Guess I can stop crying now. A close examination of what falls under the strict biblical definition of what a christian is shows that while merchants who called themselves Christians did use the sword and no doubt convinced many who were either gullible in thinking they were Christians or Gullible as Christians and followed a leader with a personal agenda (like Bush) and carried war to millions just the same it was not the sword that spread true Christianity cuz true Christians will not contribute to an aggressive war. Proof Jesus said turn the other cheek. Every Christian knows that. If you are true then you do not do what wrongdoers people say.
on the other and it certainly does appear that way if one believes everyone who says they are a Christian are really Christians.
The Bible says you can tell them by their fruits. Waring is not a fruit of the Spirit.
Could you be drafted and as you go tell people about Jesus no doubt you could. No doubt that has happened. The killing of millions however would not be helpful in this endeavor. How many around the world do you think because of the actions of Christian nations today think they would like to be a Christian?? Think it was different in the past??

Misinformation and false histories abound, especially on the Internet.
The History Channel did a documentary on the Inquisition, and the research shows the many myths that have been around since the anti-Catholic rhetoric of the 18th century.
Another major study involving mostly non-Catholic scholars found much the same thing.
The Crusades were defensive wars where Christians were rescuing the Holy Land from Muslem tyranny. It's true that some bad soldiers did some bad things, but most of the Knights were good. The Church did not order anyone to kill innocent people.
Wherever there are people, you will find sin. People did abuse their power in the Inquisition and the Crusades, but not nearly as much as the "history books" with agendas suggest.
When anyone abuses their power, it is sin, not Church teaching.
Some church leaders collaborated with the state, who did the executing, but the Church does not have the power to execute anyone, and never has. The severest punishment the church has is excommunication.

It wasn't spread by the sword until probably the Spanish Conquistadors. But like every thing it gets into a bureaucracy system and loses it's way.Which was the reason for the reformation, and in the 60s and early 70s the Jesus movement.Seriously,it was the same with Rock N Roll. There was Sinatra, then it got watered down until Elvis and the same until the Beatles.....then Punk....then Nirvana and now we need another. It was sort of like that......can you tell I'm bored and rambling?

Yep. After the conversion of the emperor Constantine Christians murdered nonchristians in the streets throughout the empire. There were the crusades, the inquisition, the wars of the reformation, the witch burnings, genocides in the christian colonies of European nations, the holocaust, some of the civil wars in Africa have been and still are fueled by christian religious militancy (among others of course). And the list keeps growing.

All religions have been spread by deceit, spears, bow and arrows, swords and any weapon that man could get his grubby hands on. Don't forget guns, planes, ships and the new weapons that are in the future. Many more million of us will leave this world in the name of Christianity in any form or shape.

the persecution of Christians did lead to the spread of Christianity since Christians fled and spread out all over the world, taking the gospel with them.....(God works in mysterious ways)
but millions haven't died because of the Scriptures.......i'm not even sure if MILLIONS have died for it.....but most definitely some number of people have died for the scriptures.... i.e. think of all the martyrs....

yes it has and it is gods will, god is loving but is also a man of war. Those who do evil and sacrifice their children to fake gods were stopped violently, but that happens when god gives a little of his power to men, it goes straight to their heads. he didn't intend for so many to die but those who held the sword just do not know when to shut up and stop. Negative results from something with noble beginnigs, he just wanted to spread his word to all but people it was not him who ruined it with their foolish pride.
