all right before, I was able to delete selected text by selecting and pushing backspace. now there's something wrong. I can only do that if i select the text and push the delete button. Its so annoying because sometimes i forget that selecting and pushing backspace doesn't work anymore and it doesn't delete. My keyboard is fine. I can select and delete with the backspace button everywhere else except Word. Please help

The information you need is in Microsoft's knowledgebase:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/901124

Hint: it has to do with Word's Review/Track Changes functionality (which is notoriously cumbersome, in my opinion).

Please vote if this solves your problem!

I don't see where this is too much of a problem inasmuch as the backspace and delete keys are about 1/2" apart, however, your backspace key should delete highlighted text.

I never gave it too much thought because I usually select unwanted text, and while it is highlighted, begin typing - which wipes it out. Will that do it for you?

Just retailer in natural phrase structure. Word 2000 will learn 2003 documents and not using a quandary. As a backup plan you would decide upon File/Save_as then within the save_as conversation field decide upon "retailer as variety..." on the backside and decide upon "RTF - Rich Text Format". Just do that the primary time so you do not need to fear. RTF is dfinately readable in WOrd 2000. You will have to uncover no quandary with the WOrd variation and in long term you'll be able to simply use that is it really works the next day to come

I think its the 'ins' button. it shld be stopping you from deleting by spacebar. the ins button is located at the bottom side of your keyboard.

You can type over the current text (replace the current text with new text). However, you must be in the Overtype mode. Do the following to change to the Overtype mode.

1. Double-Click "OVR" on the Status bar.
2. The letters "OVR" should now be black.
