Go to Start, Control Panel, Task Bar and Startup Menu. C lick start up tab and take a look. Remove anything you don't want to start up every time you turn your computer on. The programs can still be accessed at Start, All Programs.

Start\ run type msconfig and hit OK. Go to the Startup tab, and you can decide what is allowed to run at startup. Be careful, because you have the option to disable important Windows functions.

yes run msconfig, you can check your startups in the startup tab. If you want to see what's currently running, check processes. If you want to really control your startup files and processes, there's programs at different websites that will allow you to do that.
