Paper. I can and do recycle it, and when it has reached the end of it's useful life, it can be shredded and used as bedding for the farmer's animals. When the bedding has to be removed and replaced, it can go into the compost pile for future use on the farm. Plastic bags, on the other hand, are rarely amenable to recycling by the homeowner and will merely be burned by the garbage haulers, contributing to air pollution and leaving behind a toxic residue that must be disposed of safely. That disposal is expensive and rarely actually accomplished; they just bury it and hope for the best. Garbage haulers do NOT recycle plastic bags even when they do recycle plastic bottles and cans.

Lucky you!!!!!! We have a choice of plastic or plastic.Ppaper is more environmentally friendly. It is easily recyclible & is made from a renewable resource - wood scrap & water + very little non organic materials. It is probably less polluting to manufacture.

I am not sure exactly what goes into the plastic bags used in stores, but they use more energy to produce, use at least some non replaceable natural resources. The good news is they cqn be recycled into a replacement for plywood that uses wood chips, rather than lumber and the recycled bags, along with a glue-like binder that is stronger than plywood. Is it resistant to water damage? Don't know.

Paper. This is so much easier to recycle. It has more benefits. Plastic... it's not even biodegradable... even the advance plastics are still toxic.
