A skin tag is a common, benign condition which consists of a bit of skin that projects from the surrounding skin and may appear attached to the skin. Skin tags can vary quite a bit in appearance. They may be smooth or irregular, flesh colored or more deeply pigmented, and either simply be raised above the surrounding skin or have a stalk (a peduncle) so that the skin tag hangs from the skin.

Skin tags are also seen with persons with insulin resistance which is a precursor to diabetes.

You can remove them yourself by applying ice and when the skin is numb they can be snipped with scissors. Use pressure to stop bleeding and apply hydrogen peroxide to kill germs. Use a band aid. (Use common sense as to whether or not you are comfortable doing this procedure. It's cheaper than a visit to the Dermatologist and sometimes not as painful. However, if you think the skin tag should be seen by a doctor, do so.)

I was told by a friend that nail polish applied to a skin tag causes them to dry up.

Skin tags are soooooo normal. I have a lot of them the only time you should talk to your doctor about them is if they are continuously itchy or bleed without provocation. Not melanoma just your skin creating a new design. Tell him to relax. If a mole is cancerous remember to look for the abc's A - asymmetry(symmetric is good the other is not) B - Border (if it is a crazy lookin' border its a no good mole) C - colour (one colour is good multiple colours are not) Skin tags are rarely something to be concerned about.

I have never heard them called skin tags. But cyst are normal, generic and your doctor can give you several treatments before you rely on surgery. Please ask advice from you doctor, his advice is good, or he will recommend a dermatologist.

They are common on many types of peeps but, not normal to say. I notice them mostly on the brothers and on Mexicans such as me. They are not cancerous and I think they can be lazerd off. I kept playing with one on my neck and it fell off...lol..I twisted it too much.....don't worry about them....... ;)

They are normal. Usually obese or chubby people get them when their skin rubs together all th time.
