Yesterday's news! I've noticed it also absorbs much better than Feline Pine. I don't like the smell of Feline Pine. Unless you like the smell of pine tree bark. It smells terrible when saturated with cat urine. I recommend Yesterday's News

I have not used Yesterday's News before but I do know that the reason it is more expensive is because it takes more processing to make. Yesterday's News is made from recycled newspaper. As far as Feline Pine I have used it and Loved it so much more than regular clay litter but of course you have to keep the litter box clean clean clean.

My current protocol for litter boxes is a product that is actually used in wood pellet stoves. I use wood pellets which is basically the same thing as feline pine. The pellets are a bit smaller than the feline pine pellets but they work just as well and are much cheaper about $5 for a 40 pound bag. I have 11 cats so a 40 pound bag lasts us about a month. I scoop the solid fecal matter from the boxes daily and once a week or when the box is "powdered out" no more pellets I empty and then rinse, I spray with a mild bleach solution 1 part bleach to 10 parts water and let sit for about 5 mins to disinfect then I rinse, dry and refill with more pellets. I do not have any odor and the box stays dry. I also do not notice any tracking.

Another litter you can try is called Mimi's litter it is sold in walmart for about $4 a bag and it is crystals. These absorb the urine immediately and you just scoop the solids. One bag is supposed to last 1 month for 1 cat. I just started using this with one of my kittens who is not used to pellets yet and we are working on making the switch from clay to pellets but I have found that these crystals work well with odor control and they stay dry so no tracking of wetness outside the litter box.

Its been my experience that both products turn to mush as soon as they come into contact with cat urine. The feline pine will be better for controlling odor, but both products will be a tracking nightmare. I suggest you try Litter Select.

I've tried both, I don't recommend either. I hove found that Pestell, Easy Clean works great. It comes in a 20lb. or 40lb. plastic bag. I like the one with baking soda (blue bag). This stuff is a clumping litter litter that really controls the odor. It is low tracking also! I have only found it in our Mini Pet Mart stores.
