I know smoking is bad for you, and I know about all the bad health effects, but is smoking maybe a pack of cigarettes only on the weekends for lets say a year straight going to do you any harm? Basically, would the smoker be worse off than the non-smoker?

Just to clarify, I don't smoke. I do however have a lot of friends who are casual smokers. They don't believe that smoking occasionally is bad for you, which is understandable because many of the studies done tested the effects of long term smoking, not casual smoking.

I have never heard of a smoker going 5 days without a cigarette then finally smoking on weekend. You must be binge smoking when weekends finally come. Smoking is still smoking no matter how much you smoke. It's better to quit. I say if you can go 5 days you can go longer without. Maybe you have strong willpower than most.

I've been smoking for 42 years, so far with no ill effects and have no real desire or plans to quit. When I first started I only smoked a few cigarettes a day and I can remember saying, it's no big deal, I can quit anytime I want to. Sometimes I think if I quit now it would be such a shock to my nicotine addicted body the stress alone might kill me. Now I smoke two and at times three packs a day, and beside the obvious health risk it's not a low cost habit anymore. When I started you could by a pack for .20 cents and now they're up to $4.00 or higher and getting more expensive every year. Smoking is highly addictive, it nicotine stains everything in your house, it's offensive to non smokers, a fire hazard, practically everything you own ends up with burn marks sooner or later, and these days most places make you go outside to do it if they allow it at all. My advice to anyone who smokes is, if you can still quit, just do it.

That's a dumb question, sorry. Anytime you smoke you put yourself at risk for cancer etc. It's sort of like the risk of getting pregnant. You only have to have sex once to get pregnant. You only have to smoke for a little while, or even just be around people that smoke, to get cancer. People that have never smoked a day in their life have died of lung cancer from second hand smoke. So to answer your question, yes, a smoker (even if just a "casual" smoker) is always going to be worse off than the nonsmoker (assuming the non smoker doesn't hang around people that smoke alot).

Smoking is smoking no matter how often or little. Quit while you're ahead! I smoke, and I'm trying to quit - I've been smoking only a 1/2 pack a day for - are you ready for 26 years. Way too long.

It is bad period
I say this as a smoker. If you do not smoke as a rule then please do not do it at the bar. It can lead to serious health defects even at a pack a weekend. Or even a full time addiction.

as quickly as the weed is out of your gadget (which does take approximately 6 weeks in case you have been lighting fixtures up daily) you in all probability will nonetheless sense a sprint disjointed. that's not with the aid of THC - it is due on your ideas getting used to being in a comfortable disconnected state of ideas. To get lower back to a greater sharp state of ideas, you would be able to desire to deliberately paintings on questioning that way. with the aid of fact you're under pressure as hell, attempt and relax a distinctive way ( a decaf tea with camomille, a dryer warmed blanket, soothing track) and don't bypass lower back to the weed. Now once you're retraining your ideas to be 'on factor' you would be able to desire to have a favorable outlook - you could beat the 'dream', you in basic terms would desire to do 2 issues: catch your self feeling dreamy, and substitute a good judgment-requiring thought (do an person-friendly math question, or attempt to remember state captials, or something that demands ideas capability), and once you spot a pointy thought, CONGRATULATE your self. Retraining your ideas takes it sluggish, and a small quantity of attempt, yet do on no account enable your catching dreamy/disconnected state get you down. That in basic terms potential you think of roughly something logical and "at this 2d" - that's no longer a failure. that's in basic terms a non-stop retraining, till you tell your ideas which you rather do desire it to commence producing a sharper state of ideas.

You're still getting bad chemicals so you will be unhealthier than a non-smoker.
