Anyone with any experience with this car know if this is a good buy. I'm considering 1999 - 2002 model year GLX turbo. I've read mixed reiviews for this car. I've researched several other cars for a few months and this one heads the list so far. I definately want a small 2 door coupe that's reasonably fast (thus the GLX), that is not a major insurance policy liability, that has very distinctive styling, that gets good gas mileage, and is priced right. Already own a SUV and family sedan. This would be transportation to and from work and maybe a little weekend fun here and there. Does this vehicle fit the bill?

I have a used GLS Beetle and I have to say it's not worth getting. For the first year I have had trouble with it couple of times so I had to get it to the mechanic to get it fixed. Now it's running fine but for how long I don't know, I haven't had it for more than two years. I don't recommend a used VW because it's really pricey to fix and most mechanics don't know how to fix German cars. I would recommand Japanese cars like Toyota and Hondas. They are considered very reliable and doesn't cost much (cheaper than the VW Beetle)

I have a 2001 New Beetle 1.8t. I love it! I've had minor things go wrong but nothing major. I was the first owner so I take care of mine. Problem with buying used is you don't know if the previous owner(s) took care of the car.

I love it because its fast and reliable. I do about 80-90 m/hr all the time and it handles great. I've even get it up to 110 m/hr every so often and it still handles.

If you do decide to get one, make sure you bring it to a good vw dealership for repairs. They know the cars inside and out. Other mechanics might not. You can also bring them to vw specific performance shops to be fixed. There good because they love vw's and tend to know all about them.

I considered buying a vw until i did some research. I found out that for the price vw are not as reliable as most other brands. Even American cars had a better rating as far as relibility and satisfaction, and because they hold their value so well, u will paying more but will not be getting more. I think there are alot better cars out there other than the vw. I went with the 06 Honda Civic and love it, great gas milage too!

vw's genrally are sturdy autos, a toyota or honda is in all probability a greater guess on your use, yet with all used autos, the condision of the vehicle is maximum inportant, do a vehicle-fax, what's the mileage, what's the mpg score, while replaced into it final serviced, a vehicle is in basic terms as sturdy because it replaced into cared for>>
