I am calling the vet to make an appointment to get my newly adopted Rottie fixed. But her **** our swallon and I think she might be pregnant, I agreed to have her fixed within one month I adopted her from the Animal Shelter and that was one of the conditions. If she is should I go ahead and have her fix or wait until she has puppy?
Is there a time frame to take the puppies or can they take them no matter how far along she is?

The vet can fix her even having pups. It's a sad decision but maybe one that has to be made. You can't have 8 more dogs around your place I'm sure and then you would have to take the pups to where you got mommy from. With as much as I love dogs I hate to say this but it's because of love for them that you have to let the vet abort the litter.

Most vets will fix a dog even an advanced pregnancy. My friend had a border collie/Chihuahua mix (she was the size of the collie) that was bred by a chow/Shepard mix, and the vet terminated her puppies (very large puppies...the dog would not have been able to have them).

I say terminate the pups...you agreed to have her fixed. You can call the shelter you adopted her from and ask them what you should do.

Yes, take her to the vet. If she is pregnant, you can discuss how far along she is and IF you have any options. I do not believe you will find a vet that will abort puppy fetuses that are far along, at least I hope not. You were a kind person to adopt her, have faith that her little puppies will be as lucky and find good homes. Good luck to you and your precious puppy-

Most vets will do the deed until15-21 days before the due date. Since she is a shelter dog you have a contractual obligation t have her spayed. You can always call the shelter and ask for their opinion.

i would call the vet and have her checked for pups and if she has pups then call the shelter and tell them why she can't be fixed at the moment. they will understand and if they don't well then i guess tell them to go fix themselves if you know what i mean LOL!! if her ANUS is swallon and she has pups then it shound't be much longer. it only takes 60 days for a litter to come. i wouldn't get her fixed till 2 and 1/2 months go by since the pups were born that's if they are pups. all i say is dubble check with ur vet!

they can take the pupps up until near the dogs due date. If you cant cope with pups your making the right decision in my view.
Be prepared is all i can say.
Ive had to make the decision your making . I opted to terminate my dogs pups .
It was the only option i had at the time.
I felt bad
Its not like people . The ***** dont want to know her pups after theyre about 9 weeks at most.

The vet will not fix your dog if it is pregnant they will make an appointment for you to come in once the litter is born, the shelter will have to recognize the fat that you made teh appointment you just didn't get there on time.

Bring her in..have her spayed. Let the Vet deal with what may be a problem. Do not let her have the pups. You are doing the right thing so just stick to it . Good luck

If she is pregnant I'm sure the animal shelter wouldn't mind letting you get her fixed after she has her puppies, and if you don't want the puppies the animal shelter would take the puppies.

I can't believe a shelter allowed an unaltered dog to be adopted!
