Evangelical dismissed amid sex scandal

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Rev. Ted Haggard was dismissed Saturday as leader of the megachurch he founded after a board determined the influential evangelist had committed "sexually immoral conduct," the church said Saturday.

Most big time evangelists like this are in it for the money, not for God. Positions like this mean power and money.

Of course the Bible talks of such things -- in fact, it warns about them.
Having said that, I am wondering what Mr. Haggard's church would do if he had "simply" been having an affair with another woman. I tend to think that would have been handled more descretely and behind the scenes.
I think that such things happen quite a bit in the church but rarely become public, especially if it involves just regular church members and not pastors or other people in authority.

Remember Jesus chose Judas to be one of the twelve Apostles.
Judas lacked Hope in repentance and redemption.
Peter had hope in Jesus Christ mission.
Both rejected Christ, one was saved, the other was not.

Unfortunately, God's church is full of human beings, sinners all of us. It is particularly tragic when they are supposed leaders in the church.
