I didn't run into so much attitude against women while I was active! Are some of them "pretend" soldiers?

I'm not sure why, I don't. I was in Iraq and currently in Afghanistan. The women serving th, there and here are fantastic. Very good at their jobs. I've seen some great female MP gunners, Medics and helicopter pilots. They just are in the rear with the gear anymore guys. Bash all you want but they Kick A$$ over here. And some are really cute too and could still probably kick most of the arm chair soldiers butts in here. HAHA

First and foremost, I am male.

Alot of men that I know that have served have a very machismo attitude. It is taught to them, and unfortunately it stays with them and they treat everyone, not only women, that they are inferior if they are not military.

My personal opinion is that women who serve are soldiers and deserve the same recognition. I know a woman who served on the front line as a medic in Tekrit, and she is more of a soldier than the men on firing guns. She put her patients lives first, and saved many people.

You are a soldier, and you always will be. Thank you for serving my country and allowing me to be a free man.

It's usually the guys who never see (saw) action who bash women soldiers. They are sexist pigs and are incapable of admitting that women are just as smart, and just as good a soldier, as a man. These women bashers work in the commissary. Okay, we're usually not as strong physically.
It's like all wars and all veterans - my Dad always said "It's the guys who NEVER talk about it who really saw it." He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross at the age of 20 - 8th Army Air Force - no coward he.
He REFUSED to talk about it until my son started asking the "What did you do in THE WAR Grandpa" questions that he finally started talking about it. My mother and I were flabbergasted. We didn't even know about the DFC.

Actions speak louder than words. Don't worry about those who would try to devalue female service. Your service will speak for itself.

It's possible... I hate it when some men think they are SO superior. They're just a bunch of jerks.

probably because our male egos get in the way ... that or we stopped thinking with our heads at puberty, so our brains haven't caught up with the times... whatever the case, thank you for your service!
